An Introduction toT.R.E

(Trauma Release Exercise)

Your Body’s Built-In Reset Button

If you're like most of the neurodivergent women I work with, you've spent most of your life trying to ‘think’ your way out of burnout, pain or fatigue. You’ve read the books, tried the mindset shifts, and perhaps spent hours in talk therapy. But for a neurodivergent (ND) woman, cognitive processing is not always enough to heal the body.

Why? Because your physical body is secretly hoarding decades of masking debt.

Every time you suppressed a sensory flinch, pushed through office lights designed to give you a headache, or forced yourself to act ‘normal’ when you were internally melting down, your body didn't delete that stress. It stored it—deep in your fascia, muscles, and nervous system—trapping you in the Cell Danger Response.

To accelerate healing your metabolism, we need to let your body physically discharge all of this trapped energy. This is where T.R.E. comes in.

What is T.R.E?

T.R.E. stands for Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises. It is a simple, gentle series of movements designed to safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating in the body.

Have you ever watched a dog shake its entire body vigorously after a stressful encounter or a loud noise? That is a biological mechanism designed to discharge adrenaline and return the nervous system to baseline. Non-human animals do this naturally. We humans evolved to do it, too—but society conditioned us to suppress it, freeze, and hold it all in. T.R.E. safely turns that natural, shaking reflex back on.

The Science for the ND Nervous System

For an ND brain specifically, T.R.E. is profoundly effective because it bypasses the exhausted prefrontal cortex.

Bottom-Up Regulation: Talk therapy is 'top-down' (using your mind to calm your body). This requires executive function, which vanishes during burnout. T.R.E. is ‘bottom-up’—it communicates directly with your nervous system through the muscles (particularly the psoas muscle, where we hold intense fight-or-flight energy), completely bypassing the need to talk, analyse, or process.

Zero Verbal Demand: You do not need to speak, remember past events, or explain yourself. T.R.E. allows your body to release the stress of yesterday (or a decade ago) without you having to mentally relive it.

Lowering the Inflammatory Baseline: By physically discharging the trapped survival energy, your cortisol levels drop. This tells your cells, "We are finally safe,"allowing your metabolic engine to come out of lockdown.

A Massive Skill for Life

T.R.E. is not a therapy you need to be dependent on forever. It is an empowering, self-directed tool. Once you learn how to initiate and safely regulate this somatic tremor, you have access to it for the rest of your life. Whether you need to regulate after a deeply overstimulating social event, or you are winding down for sleep, T.R.E. is a physical tool you can use anytime, anywhere, to hit reset.

A Note from Me: Why I added T.R.E. to my methodology

I didn't use T.R.E. to heal my Chronic Fatigue or Burnout. I healed using the exact cognitive, somatic, and metabolic tools I am teaching you in this container.

However, I recently discovered T.R.E. after a severe trauma (a motorbike accident), and it blew my mind. As I experienced the profound physical release it offered, I realised something: If I had known about T.R.E. during my recovery, my healing would have been so much faster and easier.

I used psychological tools to do the heavy lifting, but T.R.E. does it physically. Because I want to save you the time and friction I went through, I have evolved my program to include it. It is the missing link I wish I had back then.

Meet Your Practitioner: Camille

Because T.R.E. involves the physical body, feeling totally safe with your practitioner is non-negotiable. That is exactly why I have partnered with Camille for this container.

Camille is a formally qualified T.R.E. provider, originally from France and now living in the peaceful countryside of Cambodia. But more importantly: she is neurodivergent.

Camille deeply understands the sensory profile of the ND brain. There is absolutely no masking required in her sessions. You can show up exactly as you are—whether you need the camera off, whether you are non-verbal that day, or whether you just need a gentle, understanding presence.

Camille isn't just someone I hire; she is my own personal T.R.E. practitioner. I trust her implicitly with my own nervous system, and I have personally experienced the profound biological shifts her sessions create. I cannot wait to share her magic with you.

She will guide you through private 1:1 sessions alongside our metabolic work to ensure your body is fully supported in letting go.

The Science: Why T.R.E. Works

T.R.E. is not just ‘relaxing’—it is a biologically proven, heavily researched somatic intervention. Modern research into neurogenic tremors (the natural shaking mechanism) and the nervous system shows us exactly why this works so profoundly:

  • Downregulating the HPA Axis: Studies show that when the body induces neurogenic tremors, it actively lowers the production of stress hormones (like cortisol and adrenaline). This signals the HPA axis (the brain's stress control centre) to turn off the Cell Danger Response, lowering systemic inflammation.

  • Improving Vagal Tone (Polyvagal Theory): T.R.E. directly stimulates the vagus nerve. Strengthening your vagal tone shifts your body out of the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight) or dorsal vagal state (freeze/burnout) and back into the parasympathetic ‘rest and digest’ state necessary for metabolic healing.

  • Deep Myofascial & Psoas Release: As neurodivergent women, we ‘brace’ against the world. This chronic muscle holding traps physical tension deep in our fascia and the psoas muscle (the main muscle of the fight-or-flight response). T.R.E. safely fatigues and releases these deep muscle groups, physically unlocking trauma that cannot be reached by massage or talk therapy.

  • Signalling the Mitochondria (Exiting the Cell Danger Response): Your mitochondria are your cells’ danger sensors. As long as your body is hoarding traumatised or stressed energy, your mitochondria stay locked in Defense Mode, refusing to produce cellular energy (which causes your profound fatigue). By physically discharging that trapped survival energy, T.R.E. sends a clear, biological signal to your mitochondria that the ‘threat’ is over. Once they receive this 'all clear', they can safely switch out of the Cell Danger Response and resume producing the deep, restorative energy you need to live.

What Consistent T.R.E. Can Help With:

Because it works directly at the root of the nervous system, T.R.E. has a ripple effect across the entire body. It is highly effective for:

  • Somatic Pain & Tension: Releasing chronic 'bracing’ in the jaw, neck, shoulders, pelvic floor , hips and back.

  • Sensory Overload: Lowering your baseline of overstimulation, meaning it takes more to trigger a crash or meltdown.

  • Sleep Disruption: Discharging the day's adrenaline so you can actually fall asleep (and stay asleep) without that 3 A.M. cortisol spike.

  • Metabolic & Gut Function: Moving the body out of ‘lockdown’ so your digestive system and cellular energy production can safely turn back on.

  • Emotional Regulation: Safely releasing trapped rage, grief, and anxiety without needing to intellectually process, talk about, or even understand why you feel it.

  • Brain Fog & Executive Dysfunction: Clearing the physical ‘noise’ in your nervous system so your prefrontal cortex can come back online.

  • Hormonal Transition: Calming the central nervous system to drastically reduce the inflammatory symptoms of perimenopause (like hot flashes, joint pain, and mood swings).
